:: INTRODUCTION

ILLUMINAT (Barbados) Limited has been contracted by the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports to conduct a Technology Mastery for Educators Course as part of the Education Sector Enhancement Programme.

The 2004 Technology Mastery for Educators Summer Workshop Series is designed to provide educators with the necessary skills to effectively incorporate technology into the teaching-learning process. The modular programme caters to the range of abilities of classroom teachers and education administrators. Each module combines a mix of hands on exercises and trainer-led sessions which provide practical applications of technology to the modern classroom.

These professional development activities allow educators to:

  • Become familiar with the various applications of technology to education.
  • Become proficient in the use of various productivity tools: word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, database and multimedia packages.
  • Become familiar with several academic software resources.
  • Learn how to successfully integrate technology into the classroom.
  • Develop and implement original software programs using industry-standard authoring tools.
  • Create innovative indigenous programs for use throughout the school system.

This brochure outlines the sessions to be covered in each course, and details the activities in which the participants will engage.
